Laith! I'd like to learn more about your film work. I do DP and editing work myself, and I didn't realize until recently that you too are involved in that realm.
About a year and a half ago, i got to read Chris Weeks's essay "Quest of the muse" and was so impressed by it that i wondered if one day i'll be able to have and show pictures of friends who inspire me photographically.
"As a photographer I think the most interesting part of my life having a camera in front of my face ... is that of the muse. They’re ephemeral. Sometimes they last longer than a month. Others for only but a moment. Perhaps even a fucking frame. Or two. Some of them fall in love and move to a fucking red state. Some revisit. Some offer. But the ones that offer I’m just not that interested. Maybe there’s some hunter-gatherer thing that happens with a muse. Above and beyond everything else, they inspire. Above and beyond everything else they inspire not only photographs but other things. Thoughts. Visions. The connection is palpable with a muse. The twinkle in the eye. Dunno what it is exactly. But when it’s there ... it’s there." It's taken a while for me to decide to post pictures of my friends Jen and Lara, but here are a couple of frames that show that connection that chris talks about, they are moments where you go " That's one" .
